[Music] knowledge begins with not knowing not

knowing is the place from there the knowing sprouts it is the potential it

is the fertile ground on which the seed of knowledge can be planted if

everything is already known it is a desert nothing grows there except the

weeds of blind belief the biggest belief in this universe is that I know and the

biggest stupidity is to assume I know everything I need not be told anything

and I will not ask any question now advice and look the majority of people

also know what I know it is the wisdom of common people and moreover if I ask

something that will render my ignorance bare and no I don't want to be called

ignorant I don't want to look like as if I am stupid so I better pretend that I

know everything I'm just like everybody is doing and have this at least fake

respect by not asking common wisdom is mass stupidity when everybody knows

something it is a sign of immense ignorance those who know they do not

know those who do not know they know knowing is of no value

not knowing is precious those who know only pretend to know those who don't

know they are honest somebody great has said that the only thing I know that I do not know

and somebody great has said that a fool is always sure of their knowledge and a

wise is always in doubt and there is this expert effect that those who are

not expert in something they feel that they know everything about that field now while the experts they know but how

much is left unknown for a master there

is no progress the gates are closed for somebody who is pretending to be a

master it's all walls there is not even a gate there which can be opened

surrounded by walls in the prison of

their own small-mindedness for a seeker for an explorer there is an infinity of

terrain to be explored no end to where he can go because the walls of knowledge

nothing is assumed an explorer carries very little this bare minimum tools food

travels very very light and so the adventure evades such a person those who

are burdened died to things they can't even leave their house somebody will

steal something somebody will enter my house I need to take care of so many things now because I am rich such a

person is burdened with what they have in our case the knowledge and can barely

go a few steps away from that change to

what I know exploration begins by not knowing by accepting that there is a lot

to know even when there is a lot that is known the amount that is unknown exceeds

that which is done this will be always the case somebody great has said that

knowledge is like a circle as the area of the circle grows in the boundary

touching the outside the circumference of the circle also becomes bigger what

is outside the knowledge is ignorant not

knowledge probably it's ignorance will not be a good word here because ignorance is

knowing ignorance is false knowledge no knowledge is innocence the more you know

the boundary touching their unknown grows there will never come a time where

you can say that look the amount of things that I do not know they're

diminishing this will never happen and if it has happened that means you are

creating a prison for yourself you're no more directs an explorer now you're

giving up those who focus on what they know they stay there

those who focus on what they don't know they explore they grow they go to places

where nobody has gone so as you must have guessed this is the topic for today

agnosticism this is the finest kind of stand one can take especially useful for

a seeker an ordinary person is already bound by what they know you cannot budge

them you cannot even nudge them to not knowing they already know everything and

this knowledge is so blinding that they do not know the value of not knowing

when the cup is full nothing can go in for a seeker not knowing is more

important than knowing diagnostic position is the most superior position

to be in as soon as you marry a philosophy a tradition a belief system

a superstition or anything that is written in newspaper or is shown in TV your career as a seeker endings does not

matter how romantic that thing that you are married to is it is like a chain it

is like a handcuff once this bond is formed with a tradition or whatever it is very

difficult to let go of it the mind is the biggest lover of the prisons the

mind is afraid of freedom there is a false sense of security in knowing oh I

know everything now or I know that which I needed to know now I'm fine here I

don't want to venture into anything else mine loves bondage there is an inertia

in the mind to know it starts there does not want to know it's happy in the

ignorant blissful as soon as it is shaken woken up it is irritated feels

the discomfort the discomfort comes because now it now needs to start

working towards knowing there is a very cunning strategy that the mind rots to

avoid this kind of hard work because obviously knowing is hard

ignorance is easy so it adopts this cunning strategy of lazily without any

effort it borrows whatever is ready-made the fast food of knowledge hates it and

says I'm done now I don't need to know more this is all I wanted to know and I

got it for free for cheap now after that there is no need to do the hard work

there is no need to explore for that mind such a mind is the biggest enemy

for a seeker the mind that knows the mind that says I know it is deluding

itself it is deceiving itself it is it really old tendency because of ignorance

there is suffering the mind doesn't want suffering but wants ignorant how is that

possible you want the ugliest kind of food on the street but you don't want

food poisoning how is that possible this is mind yes it is very complicated

very intricate very beautiful structure but I am presenting you the other side

there is always another side mind is in duality never underestimate its negativity its

negative side anything that can become so beautiful complex and wise can swing to the other

end also then human mind is highly evolved it's very complex thing and when

it is on the positive side it produces extraordinary experiences extraordinary

knowledge bliss happiness freedom when it is on the other side there is no

telling what it can produce the hell is the positive word compared to what the

mind can do fortunately most of the minds most of the individuals they are

numb they're dumb they're lazy they do not produce suffering also not much one

cinema once in a while this kind of afflicted mind becomes active and

ignorant when turned active when set on

fire can do the most inhuman things possible all time saying that this is

the wisest thing that I am doing so much devastation so much suffering was

inflicted on the name of knowledge I am the right one I know what is right

this is a disease and so much pain was caused because of

this kind of mind because of this thought never underestimate the power of

a sick mind which has become active which is energized itself we are

fortunate that these people they are dummies they are stupid they do not amount to anything

and so we are saved there is there is a kind of paradoxical thing that you must

have observed then the wisest of all they just sit they don't do anything

they are totally inactive they are actually more inactive then the lazy

mind sometimes they do something if is very well necessary otherwise they are

not interested and it looks like waste of the genius the school dropout is very

active earning millions and billions and this one resident PhD knows every book

by heart lives on footpath in poverty hardly any money to buy food

you must have observe these things and if we meditate on this funny occurrence

you will see that this is the most natural those who are active they are

active because of the ignorance the actions arise out of ignorance

especially for the spiritual kind of person who won't act because there is

knowledge that such in such action is totally unnecessary and so does not act

99 percent of what we do speak or think is totally unnecessary that which is

necessary nobody needs to even think about it it happens by its own so an

ignorant person a person who thinks that I know is always active always doing

something and these are the people who are running the world so it looks like as if they are the necessary component

in this world without the active people there won't be any progress what will we

do if people did not get up from their houses and provide us with all this services

there won't be any electricity he won't be water no transport no devices no

internet no flights these things are being done by those who know the

activity is the backbone of the society and the cause of the activity is

ignorance so it might look counter addition that world is being run by

those who know and how is this guy some random person our Internet is telling me

that not knowing is the answer not knowing is more important on the surface

and this reasoning works but on the path of knowledge we don't remain on surface

we dive into things and I encourage you to dive into these questions and you

will find that that tivity itself is not a problem everything that needs to

happen is already happening the problem is the assumption that I'm doing it and I am doing it because I

know it and since I am doing it I am important I am running the world you look at the

belief of a doer he'll rush people have never questioned who is doing what is

doing what is the difference between happening and acting what is the

difference between intentionally acting and letting things happen just recently

I heard that I heard someone saying it there doesn't seem to be any intentionality in this universe because

there is a lot of suffering it is like blind universe trying to get somewhere

not knowing where to go and it's trying out different things and most of the

time it ends up producing suffering it fails and I can understand why it looks

like that there is simple reason which is knowledge which is the

assumption that I know what this university is what it is trying to do and I know that there is suffering

although it looks like a very intelligent remark it is a sign of

intelligence to doubt look you tell it this there is an international a deal

everything is perfect everything is happening the way it should but look there is suffering most of the things

they go wrong most of it is highly boring we need to do something about it we need to fix it

and you just sit there tell me that not knowing is good you are part of the

problem I am doing something damn fixing things and solving in the

suffering I am correcting whatever is wrong so I can understand this kind of

thinking is coming not of knowledge there is great certainty in this mind

that I already know how the universe is and how should behave and I also know

that's not behaving it's not behaving as per my personal preference and therefore

I need to do something to correct it now you can get the drift of where I'm going

in respect along these lines at the root of all beliefs is knowledge

that I know this to be true and therefore there is an intention to fix

something to do something about it all actions arise out of knowledge in all

actions rise out of this ignorant that I know if there is no knowledge can there

be any action if there is no ignorance can there be any action if I say I don't

know can I act and the amazing thing is whatever is the position and the actions

happen that which is necessary always happens cannot be stopped so from the

point of view of acting knowing and not knowing or equal it does not really matter whenever there

is an impulse of ignorance there will be thought that I know I need to do

something and that action will happen this is mind whenever there is a light

of knowledge I don't know this thought will appear the action will happen

whatever action it is not only thing is if it will happen only if it is very

very necessary the actions that happen from knowledge can be good or bad right

or wrong but that which happens through not knowing it's only of one kind that

is it is necessary now you cannot say it was right or wrong good or bad and there

is no classification there there is no judgment there did not happen out of

knowledge of right and wrong did not happen out of the knowledge of good and bad and now there will be a question

that should I not consider what is good and bad consequences of my actions before acting you are telling me not to

use my knowledge and you can see the problem here but again mind is assuming things

because the statement that is made is I don't know the statement isn't not that

I should not try to know an act everybody is most welcome to do that no

an act the action will be more or less necessary or unnecessary depending on

how much was known how much ignorance is there now there will be lot of ignorance

if there is this thought that I know if there is this assumption that I know what to do and now I'm doing it when

there is this thought that I don't know there will be a lot of wisdom there will

be a sense of letting go and there will be freedom from consequences there will

be a feeling of impersonal action oh this is needed this is

thing but I really don't know whether this is right or wrong or whatever there

is a surrender in this kind of action there's a knowledge in action is

happening it is not happening because I know so I can understand the confusion

here this is not the easiest subject to talk about and I totally expect that very few

people are going to understand it took me a long time to understand the value

of not knowing and it is again a paradox that you will come to this important

realization only after knowing only after traveling on the path of knowledge

it does not take long because path of knowledge is not about knowing I need to

repeat what I said the power of knowledge is not about knowing it is about not knowing down the path of

knowledge we destroy the knowledge please see this you already know a lot

one of my gurus used to say that and that is your problem now clean up

simplify purify and that is your job and he taught me to question that's all now

skepticism and agnosticism they are great partners it's a marriage made in

heaven you will never arrive at I don't know if you do not question if you do

not doubt but you always know that's what I'm talking about too much

knowledge and therefore too little wisdom when everybody is walking on this

planet as if they know everything and that is there in this universe to know and there's no wonder that most of the

actions are stupid actions there's no wonder that those who think that know a lot are causing the greatest damage they

are the most violent by violence I mean don't mean only killing part that is

universe thing but there their thoughts directions they are

harmful in one way or the other simply because they say I know I know I am

superior our race is superior this thin color is superior so all I need to do is

get rid of the inferior people and that is what my gods are telling this is perfect certainty there is absolutely no

doubt here that this is true and there is an immense amount of energy in this

thought this is what the human biology also is telling the human being is

evolved to kill to wipe out the competition to get as many mates and

resources as possible we are just a gang of territorial monkeys angry and violent

lustful and cunning this is our past this these are our roots and such

knowledge is going to be helpful in perpetuating the monkey nests the

animalistic instincts and so it looks right there is an aura of truth in

knowing any action that is going to come out of this kind of knowledge will look

like fair in just Who I am just getting rid of these you know inferior parasites

on this planet to establish my superior family people whom I love they need to

rule this country or rule this planet nobody else there is a lot of knowledge

here there is a lot of wisdom here too with which almost everybody in the tribe

every other monkey agrees because they also know this is right the person who

says wait a minute I don't know whether you're right or not or whether we should do this or not I am Not sure that person

will be hated first so he's a traitor he's not one of us probably he's a spy

he's with them inferior enemies let's kill him you will find that the

person who is not sure will not open his mouth in front of a person who is sure

who is certain this tendency is everywhere not only in Wars and racism

religious dominance it is everywhere we seal our lips in front of a very good

doctor we don't we are afraid of even asking a question we do not question the authority the professor of such-and-such

I better stay away from this person he knows a lot those who don't know they

are afraid of opening their mouths in front of those who know that makes those

who know invincible nobody is challenging them so it's self feeding

this positive feedback in knowledge the more you know the bohr certain you

become the more certain and solid are your actions and now there is no hope

it's coming out of this bondage that is why those who don't know they are seen

as not acting and that is why those who do a lot they are highly active the

actions are what they are they are not good they're not bad they're not right they're not wrong the actions are

actions they're happenings there are consequences and there are actions in bad consequences just that which I do

not prefer that's all it is and good consequences that which I prefer and

there are eight billion preferences here good luck finding right action

good luck categorizing your actions that's why people who don't know The

Linde actions happen in stress categorizing them who knows only the consequence is going to tell me whether

it was right or wrong the right or wrong is always in retrospect and are highly

subjective those who know my actions are right well you can see where it is

heading to it is heading towards a disaster those who don't know what are the right

actions what are the wrong actions they also performed actions when there is a need and then leave it to the universe

to design the knowledge will diminish your awareness and any action that is

happening in an awareness you can say it is going to produce a consequence some

kind which can be unexpected those who don't know they're aware of it they

disowned the action also they disowned the consequence also then therefore

they're free they're free from knowing they're free from right and wrong they

are free from acting and they're free from consequences somebody who has tasted not knowing it's not going to

like knowledge this can seem a little bit shocking to those who are deciding

on the path of knowledge so yesterday you're saying knowledge is these knowledge that knowledge is the key in

knowledge is the most valuable today you are in a reverse gear what happened well

that is only marketing you see that is how we do marketing on the path of

knowledge knowledge is the cure bla bla bla bla the product is not knowing this

is what I am selling from the path of knowledge you will be left with no knowledge you will be robbed of all the

knowledge that you have right now forget about knowing anything new no there's nothing new here to know there

is nothing to know the problem is knowing the problem is knowledge knowledge is the highest kind of

ignorance it is so refined that feels right oh I

know now let me stay in knowledge let us

get to the point actually there are three kinds of experiences one is known

second is unknown and the third is unknowable these are the kinds of

experiences there is only one kind of being which is being that which I am in

that which is these it is or not of any kind you must have noticed why is that

if knowledge is truth and truth is that which I am how can it have kinds because

I am of not of any kind you see the think about it there is only one kind of

being there are three kinds of experiences from the point of view of knowledge and in knowledge itself there

are two kinds of knowledge --is true knowledge false knowledge the false knowledge is also called a belief there

can be all kinds of knowledge as you see the knowledge which is gained by experience is the purest direct

experience the second is inference logical inference and third is heard it

from authorities the wise people Gru's masters and the fourth is conditioning

somebody has told you look this is how it is in you assumed yes you say so it

it must be like this the lazy knowledge and there are more you see in their

stupidity has no limits so all kinds of knowledge is are possible you cook up

something in your mind and it becomes knowledge and dream up of something so this kind of people are very bad my

neighbor is evil and it becomes a knowledge knowledge will guide your life

knowledge will make you act knowledge will decide right and wrong and so it's

it's crap there are many kinds of unknowns the unknowns which nobody knows

the unknowns which he only you don't know the unknowns which are of practical use you don't know what to buy you don't

know what to eat these are affecting your lives so many kinds of unknowns what can be said about the unknowable

how many kinds of unknowables can be there where I can think of two kinds but

you will see it's an affray classification when unknowable is that

which somebody has told you look this is unknowable and you say okay this is unknowable you are great

so you aren't big on e so you must be you you already know what is that noble

I just accept it there is a second unknowable which only those who claim to

not know they know there is the purest kind of unknowable that is the only

unknowable there is and again you will see it yourself that which is unknowable

is also that which is the being is the unknowable it is not the third kind of

experience it is that which is it is kind of interesting very amusing things to notice now did I

did you know something when I told when I told you about this thing your being is the unknowable no you don't know

because that is the definition of them and no ability it's not possible to know you see it's at least it is possible to

know that it is unknowable what about there is the fourth category things

which we don't even know are unknowable this is there any such thing that is

that would be the height of an no ability no clue if something can be unknowable because I say being is

unknowable that puts it in the category of unknown you see this some kind of a

knowingness there why don't there is it but I don't know what it is but there is

one more kind about which we cannot even say that it cannot be viable it is not

even unknowable it is beyond the known unknown and unknowable in the mind

cannot reach there in the mind cannot say oh I know there is such a thing that would be stupidity it's not possible to

say like this on the path of knowledge we don't talk about knowledge we talk

about the unknown you look within these things are unknown and now give up that which you know at least come on the

middle ground of not knowing as soon as we start talking about that which is unknowable

we are going into the other extreme now you need to be careful here because that

which is it's not only unknowable there is absolutely no statements and be

made about that but I just made a statement that is a paradox so we arrive

at this very funny conclusion kind of net that which is cannot be known that

which is not can be either known or unknown in that which is not is false

anything that you know about it is ignorance and therefore not only that

which I don't know is ignorance that which I know is also ignorant this is

the proper position of an agnostic agnostic is not saying oh look I am stupid I don't know anything you go with

your philosophies and truths I have nothing to do with you and this is a

superficial destination of agnosticism and agnostic knows everything and

declares it as ignorant and that is not knowing it is a simple not knowing which

is just ignorance for a common man and there is an agnostic not knowing which

is all that can be known and then dumped as ignorance I don't know really I know

I know everything under the sky but I am trashing it here belongs in the trash

can now it is not ignorance the agnosticism is not a worship of ignorance

it is disowning of knowledge I don't

want the knowledge look take your knowledge take it back in disowning I am

happy with not knowing an agnostic will do such a crazy unthinkable thing he

will abandon that which he has earned through a lifetime of Furth now this is

my understanding of Gnosticism but as you can imagine there

will be umpteen millions now fuse and

what constitutes agnosticism how it is difficult from skepticism and how it is

different from non-dualism non-dualism very interesting thing that ultimately

declares not to which is an admission of not knowing if it said one well certain

knowledge real certainty but they were you know smart enough to not take that

stupid step in this job that not knowing therefore it is a negative word death

not to know somebody whose theories is going to ask not to then what I don't

know I don't know is the right answer and the beauty of this not knowing is

that it has been arrived at only after knowing only after investigating

everything can the non-dual is say I don't know simply sitting here on the

chair that will be not agnosticism that for that will be not not knowing that

will be lazy thinking that would be lazy mind so those who don't know they are

the busiest minds they are after knowledge they're hungry like wild dogs they are chasing the knowledge can you

see can you see the paradox on path of knowledge that's why it's called path of

knowledge you see we are going somewhere we are chasing after things we're

chasing after knowledge every time we get something we trash it in the bin of

not knowing that's what you will get on path of knowledge everything that you encounter is worth throwing away as soon

as you keep it you are no different than an ordinary ignorant person who knows

who knows a lot and who does not want to know more and who does not want to go

further who is not even hungry an agnostic is always hungry for

knowledge the hunger is never satisfied because all knowledge turns out to be

ignorant of one kind or the other then does not stop us from running after

knowledge this running after is not due to a false hope that well this turned

out to be ignorant turn out to be you know some stupid idea concept only I

still don't know so probably in future somewhere I'll get some knowledge then

finally I'll know there is no promise in this never never land of not knowing

such hope is false hope wishy-washy thing an agnostic is fairly certain that

he will never know and still does it still goes after knowledge there is a

satisfaction in destroying all that one knows that can look like a very odd

statement what kind of hobby is that destructive hobby you will feel very

soon if you travel on the path of knowledge that if you gain knowledge if

something solid comes on your path you will start feeling uneasy is it it if

this is this all let me check let me check whether it stands whether it has

field and for an expert on path of knowledge takes two minutes to destroy

it it takes two minutes to see that whatever you have encountered cannot

stand it takes two minutes to trash it and to return back to our lovely place

of not knowing a lot of peace here and this can be unsettling to those who are

trying to gain some knowledge and that's why they are on the path of knowledge so

I have a bad news for you net on the path of knowledge you get only

uncertainty as soon as you arrive at serenity well

the progress will stop there your hunger will be disappeared will disappear you

will be happy in knowing I'm just like I said all that can be known is false can

you be happy in the Falls that's why we take delight in proving things Falls

that's why we are married to skepticism the first thing the first thought that

rises in in the mind of agony is let me

check let me check whether is right or not whether it stands or not whether

it's logical or not whether it is my experience or not questioned out skepticism is the first thing if you say

look how beautiful it is it makes total sense in the world now and okay I am going home and well do you have now

taken another route you have taken the route of belief you are taking the route of knowing and staying there is no

destination on the path of knowledge it is always unknown always unknowable and

so when you encounter something that seems to be knowledge there's a great

day to destroy it with a great pleasure

cutting the heads off of knowledge are we left with nothing are we left with total meaninglessness

purposelessness well listen and nothing is knowable why make any effort at all

and now you can see that is why this is called path of knowledge not the goal of

knowledge path goes on and on and on if you are on the path with the hope that

you will gain knowledge then probably it will be purposeless probably it is meaningless probably it is waste of time

a seeker is on the path of knowledge fully knowing that there can be only being and there cannot be any knowing

all that can be known will appear as an appearance in the being the being itself

cannot be known as an appearance the appearance is not knowledge it is

appearance it is appearing all knowledge is relative like this all knowledge is

illusion knowledge of the illusion is itself a illusion that which knows is

also illusion that which is is not an illusion and it knows that it is this

knowledge is not something which can be known people have tried to assign words

to this finer knowledge then know the knowledge that I don't know then you can

find some words but it is best left as I don't know because as soon as you assign

a word to it this bragging that who knows what it looks like that I know

something now these are dangerous there is a risk of becoming certain there is a

risk of stability here there is a risk that the path will end when the great people said it is all emptiness don't

try to know it what are you going to know in emptiness did that stop people from forming this concept of emptiness

that look I know I am Dennis I have emptiness everything is emptiness now I know this for certain and this is

stupidity as soon as you assign in a word it becomes knowledge then the

people are going to interpret it in their own ways because they are trying to know not knowing will keep you

seeking have a stopped seeking because you know now there is nothing to know it's all being being cannot be known

well the not knowing the unknowable 'ti is what attracts a seeker seeking

continues those who know they do not seek they have already arrived and

therefore there is no chance there is no hope for exploring further so it may

look like noise isn't it kind of waste of effort you know its stupidity to already know

that nothing can be known and still see for that what are you hoping for and I

just like I said the seeking is not for gaining the seeking

is for losing path of knowledge is a negative path its subtractive path you

are always trying to lose something or the other so the seeking is seeking freedom from

knowledge when you return to what is when you return to the unknowable is

there anything else remain to seek it

looks like that is the destination but this is a funny thing it it cannot be

achieved mind is all about knowing mind is all about seeking mind is all about

gathering and as soon as it gathers something as soon as it knows something we take the sword and cut it off

completely for an experienced yani should not take more than 5 minutes and

so this kind of seeking is the fun part of the path of knowledge and the end

result is always a question and the end result is always I don't know now I've

cut it off shredded to pieces is there anything to know here no that is an achievement for an agnostic and

left with so many questions now that is the skeptic part the freedom is retained

we are looking for knowledge not to bind with it but to get rid of it just like a

hunter is looking for some wild animal now always very very attentive and what

what does it do when the wild animal attacks bushes somewhere he kills an

animal gets rid of it because if you don't kill the knowledge the knowledge

will kill you the knowledge will get hold of your mind and the mind will stagnate it will

become rotten pool of knowledge of concepts I know this I know that and

this will rot this is what the mind prefers mine prefers stability the mind

refers certainty the mind prefers knowledge the mind prefers right action

that comes out of the right knowledge you don't want to give this mind the

mind needs to be like water it becomes that which it is in which is poured into

analytics all form be like water the

water is the rebel and water is agnostic the water is the skeptic cannot be

formed into anything it does not stay at one place is always flowing always

changing states ice water vapor clouds rain sea river as soon as it gathers it

becomes a dirty the mosquitoes come and lay their eggs on it the seeker is

always seeking fully knowing it's not going to take me anywhere there is this

joy in killing the knowledge now we could have named it path of no knowledge

and people would have still made a mess out of it this is you no sign of

ignorance you give them power you give the cowden it's you know always the same

the result is always the same do people know what is agnosticism they have made

a mess out of it also do they don't want a skepticism they turned it into something totally nasty skeptic word is

a bad word these days the word agnostic is it stands for stability or it does

not know anything he's also agnosticism also called

open-mindedness you see you can see their everything but don't stick to anything so open-minded skepticism is

the quality of student on the path of knowledge you see because there is nothing to seek we know because there is

nothing to know this is what keeps the mind saying this is what keeps it from

settling somebody great has sent to learn to live with uncertainty I'm sorry

I keep forgetting the names but fortunately I remember the essence of the teaching as soon as you become

certain you will stagnate your search yours your seeking will end that is a

bad place for the mind it will fossilize there can anything be known no can you let the

mind settle on knowledge no so what is the solution keep seeking keep looking

for certainty keep killing it I'm not

going to use the word hunt and hunter because it's kind of gives out bad

vibrations so purification that is a good word you can use that good sounding

words on the path of knowledge purify the mind of the ignorance that it thinks
